The 2009 Plasma 8 Series is Samsungs 2009 expansion to their plasma display line-up, introducing this new flagship line that distinguishes itself with its ultra-thin design. Coming in at just over an inch thick (1.1") Samsung claims that these sets are the thinnest plasmas for the first half of 2009 that contain a built-in TV tuner.At around 1" deep the PNB850 series will be the high end from Samsung for 2009. These 1080p plasmas feature 24p film playback, built in ethernet and an anti-glare screen.Samsung PN50B850, Samsung PN58B850New for 2009 are Samsungs B850 plasmas. These are the top of line for Samsung in 9 and feature an ultra-thin, one inch deep bezel and the internet connectivity thats showing up in more and more HDTVs. Rather than posting an outrageous contrast ratio, Samsung is saying the PN50B850 will have "mega dynamic contrast" and it remains to be seen just how "mega" it really is. We were impressed with the A650 series last year (see our review of the PN58A650 here) and are looking forward to getting our hands on the new B850 series.Some other feature of the PN50B850 are 1080p resolution, 24p film playback, built in ethernet (its also wifi capable but youll need to purchase additional hardware) and Samsungs Wide Color Enhancer Pro technology. It also features a new anti-glare screen than Samsung is calling Ultra FilterBright Plus.
